BRUSSELS, May 3 – RIA Novosti. MEPs are calling on Russia to return civil aircraft that had previously been re-registered in the Russian registry to their “legal owners”.
This is reflected in the draft resolution that MEPs plan to adopt in Strasbourg plenary session. EP resolutions are not binding, but European countries listen to the views of MEPs.
“Russia, violating international civil aviation regulations (the Chicago Convention – editor’s note), passed a law aimed at forcing the re-registration of aircraft leased from foreign companies in the Russian register. The planes have to be returned to their rightful owners, ”states the draft document.
