MOSCOW, May 3 – RIA Novosti. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz decided in an interview with the ZTF that the refusal of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to admit his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Kiev prevents the head of the German government from visiting the former Soviet republic.

Tabloid Bild informed, citing the Ukrainian government circles that Zelensky refused to accept Steinmeier in Kyiv “Due to close ties with Russia” in recent years. According to the publication, the latter planned to visit Ukraine April 13. Steinmeier explained that he was ready to go to Kiev with his colleagues from PolandLithuania, Latvia and Estoniabut his presence there was considered undesirable.

“It bothers me (with the Chancellor’s visit to Kiev – editor’s note),” said Scholz, talking about the possibility of coming to Ukraine.
