MOSCOW, June 1 – RIA Novosti. Official Washington fears that the possible confiscation of the frozen assets of the Central Bank of Russia will undermine the status of the United States as a reliable investment partner in the eyes of other countries, writes The New York Times, citing sources.

“Senior officials in Joe Biden’s administration have warned that withdrawing these funds could be illegal and prevent other countries from continuing to rely on the United States as a country to hold their investments,” the report reads.

According to the newspaper, US officials believe that the confiscation of Russian assets may induce other countries’ central banks to redirect their assets from dollars to other currencies.
