TOKYO, May 12 — RIA Novosti. On Thursday, May 12, a package of Japanese sanctions freezing the assets of Sberbank and Alfa-Bank entered into force, as well as a ban on new investments in Russia.
Those sanctions which the introduction of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan announced exactly one month ago, will also ban transactions with these banks. In addition, the new restrictions prevent natural or legal persons from investing in Russia if they can receive 10% or more of the shares as a result of the operation. It is also forbidden to grant loans in: Japan with a maturity of more than one year.
Japan imposed several packages of sanctions on Russia in connection with the events of Ukraine. In particular, it excluded Russia from the MFN regime and imposed a ban on the export of more than 300 goods to the Russian Federation, including semiconductors, radars, sensors, lasers and other equipment, as well as luxury cars and luxury goods.
