US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed the importance of face-to-face contact in a phone call on Thursday and instructed their teams to investigate the possibility of a face-to-face meeting, a senior US administration official told reporters.
«Leaders also stressed the importance of maintaining face-to-face contacts and agreed to instruct their advisers to continue their work to choose a mutually acceptable time for such a meeting,» a White House spokesman said during a special briefing following an interview between Biden and Xi Jinping.
The telephone conversation between the two leaders was the first in several months and lasted over two hours. According to the White House, Biden and Xi Jinping discussed the situation around them Taiwanthe state of affairs is on Ukraineas well as a number of other issues on the bilateral and global agenda.
