MOSCOW, June 2 — RIA Novosti. There are no countries in the world that could replace food supplies from Russia and Ukraine in the short term, said Oleg Kobyakov, director of the FAO Office for Russia, in an interview with RIA Novosti.
“There are no such countries in the short term. If we are talking about a busy share Russia and Ukraine in the world cereals market exceeds 30%. Last year Russia exported 35 million tons, Ukraine about 12 million. More than 50 countries depend on supplies from the Black Sea basin for more than 30%. Economists estimate that 30% dependency is a critical threshold. Disruptions in food supplies and soaring food prices are threatening crises in the national economy and social unrest, ”said Kobyakov.
