BRUSSELS, September 29 — RIA Novosti. Most EU countries are demanding a reduction in gas prices, but this is a sensitive issue, an EU source told reporters.
«Most member states are demanding a cap (price — editor’s note) for gas, but it is a very sensitive issue,» he said.
Head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen previously announced the need to introduce a price cap for Russian gas. At the end of August, it announced that the European Commission was working on swift and long-term measures to improve the situation in the face of rising EU electricity prices, which depend mainly on the cost of blue fuel. The EU Council of Energy Ministers instructed the European Commission to prepare a proposal to introduce a cap on gas prices by October.
