MOSCOW, December 19 — RIA Novosti. After the statements of the former German Chancellor Angela Merkel on the Minsk agreements, Russia has every reason not to trust the words and signatures of European politicians, said Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the president of the Russian Federation.
«There is probably not even a lack of trust, there is a lack of mutual trust. And, of course, we have every reason not to trust their words and signatures,» Peskov told Izvestia.
Merkel (who was in office from 2005 to 2021) spoke about the Minsk agreements in an interview with the daily Die Zeit. She stated that «the 2014 Minsk agreement was an attempt at giving Ukraine time». Merkel added that she was considering Ukraine’s entry and Georgia in FOR THISdiscussed in 2008
