WASHINGTON, June 25 — RIA Novosti. Russian-Canadian relations have become «politically virtual», losing content in the form of economic, humanitarian or academic contacts, Russia’s ambassador to Canada Oleg Stepanov told RIA Novosti.
He said that in the context of the Ukrainian crisis, departments of Russian studies were being closed at many Canadian universities, because «now it is not only pro-Russian matters, but an objective image Russia giving is forbidden.
«Our relations, thanks to the efforts of the government of (Justin) Trudeau, become purely politically virtual without any practical cushion, because there are no economic, humanitarian, cultural, scientific contacts — and this is such a strange state, we are in such an abyss now» — said the source agency.
