MOSCOW, September 20 — RIA Novosti. French edition of Le Figaro published an article by the journalist Thierry Walton, who tried to blame the conflicts in the post-Soviet space on the USSR, Russia and the «autocratic elites» of the republics that emerged after its collapse.
In particular, Walton stated that Russia’s «fear» of «the spread of Ukrainian freedom» was one of the reasons for the special operation in Ukraine. He also said that since the «Russian gendarme» is now «very busy» in Ukraine, «his former colonies have started to sort things out again.»
The publication was severely criticized by readers in the comments.
