MOSCOW, August 20 — RIA Novosti. Thousands of Ukrainian refugees in the UK may end up on the streets due to the low level of their subsistence benefits, warns Independent edition.
The country has a program whereby the British admit people from Ukraine for a period of at least six months. In some cases, this period has already ended. However, almost one in four homeowners plan to end their participation in the program after these six months. The main reason is the sharp increase in the cost of living.
Now the British receive £ 350 a month for refugees. The British government has been called on to double these subsidies to all hosts who agree to continue receiving Ukrainian visitors. Moreover, experts say it will be cheaper for the government to increase the amount of banknotes than to deal with homeless refugees later, the article reads.
